Ice Ball Recipe
Fill a 9 inch or larger balloon about 3/4 of the way
with water. Put it in the freezer overnight or until
a thick outer layer of water is frozen. (We left
ours in the freezer for 24 hours. One was frozen all
the
way through, the other had a nice watery middle).
Remove the balloon by cutting or tearing it away. Carefully,
use an ice pick to punch a hole through the outer
layer
to the center which remains unfrozen and is full
of water. Handle the ice balls with towels. Pour out
the
water and make the hole large enough for children's
small hands to explore. Children can learn about
cold, cool, texture, moisture, melting, shape and more.
