Activity

The examples in the video showed many ways children develop early literacy skills.

Take a moment and reflect on what you saw in the Clip of the Week. Remember there are no right or wrong answers.

1. In this course, we define early literacy as "the knowledge, skills and attributes that come before and lead up to conventional reading and writing." What elements of early literacy were children learning about in this video clip?

2. What did you notice about the interaction between adults and children?

3. Name the ways children you work with are engaged in learning about early literacy each day, in the following areas:

Communication (Talking & Listening)

Sounds of Spoken Language

Letters and Words

Exploring the World Around Us
