Now answer the following questions:

1. Which strategy is more teacher-directed? How so?

2. The "acknowledge" teaching strategy provides children with positive feedback to help them stay engaged and interested in the activity. What did you notice about the feedback the teacher provided to the child in the clip? Did the feedback help keep the child engaged in the learning activity? How so?

3. Think about the two clips and why the strategies chosen were effective. Direct teaching means that the teacher provides specific instructions for a behavior or action, leaving children little opportunity for error. In the clip that shows the "direct" teaching example, what might be some of the reasons the teacher chose this particular strategy for this child?
