B-2 Assessment and Developmental Continuum

  • Describe developmentally appropriate, challenging but achievable learning goals for children, including children with disabilities and special learning needs

  • Discuss intentional goal setting for both groups and individuals in relation to the developmental continuum and planning experiences to support progress
  • Discuss the realities of how cultural and linguistic diversity need to be considered in accurately assessing young children's learning

  • Describe how to involve families and other professionals in assessing children's learning and development

  • Describe ways of assessing children’s progress on literacy learning outcomes (especially those in the Head Start legislation and in states’ prekindergarten curriculum frameworks
