In Illinois,
HeadsUp! Reading is a collaboration of First Lady Lura
Lynn Ryan’s Future for Kids Initiative, the Department of
Human Services, the Illinois Head Start State Collaboration
Office and the Illinois State Board of Education. Recognizing the importance of early literacy,
Illinois hasl established training sites throughout the
state, bringing all early childhood professionals together
to not only enhance early literacy for young children, but
to also increase their own professional development. The Illinois Network of Child Care Resource
and Referral Agencies administers the HeadsUp!
Reading program. College credit
is already available to students in the state.
